The NO HARM Hour is a virtual, safe space where male-identified men can gather with other men to tell their stories, support each other, and engage in shared accountability. By telling our stories and listening to others’ stories, we begin a process of humanization that engenders empathy and gives us the courage to change and evolve.

NO HARM realizes that we must be proactive if we are to eliminate harm at its roots. The aim of our middle and high school outreach program is to disrupt the unhealthy masculine norms that contribute to their early socialization, and replace them with inclusive and equitable gender norms. Our early prevention work guides boys through a process that teaches them to unlearn anger and aggression as acceptable ways of handling conflict, and learn healthy methods of transforming conflict into growth opportunities for themselves and their relationships.

We recognize that faith communities can be the first place where victims of violence go to seek safety and solace. Places of worship must be sanctuaries of safety for those who experience harm, and faith leaders must be at the forefront of that effort. NO HARM educates faith communities to ensure that they are equipped to hold safe spaces for the harmed; transform men into ambassadors for gender justice; and build the capacity to maintain gender-inclusive communities.

When accountability is weaponized and only seen as a punitive measure, those who are incarcerated for harming others are often seen as expendable and incapable of change. NO HARM holds on to the belief that all men can change. Through our Uncover, Recover, Discover teaching series, men and boys currently held by the criminal legal system are guided through a transformational process that encourages them to uncover the root causes of harmful behavior, recognize the impact of those behaviors, and discover the freedom to choose peace instead of harm.

The work of violence prevention cannot be done in a silo. For our work to be impactful, we partner with like-minded organizations who are committed to the well-being and empowerment of victims and survivors, as well as the necessary work of transforming and engaging men in this work. We partner with victim services and survivor-centered agencies, not only in the spirit of centering those voices, but in the knowing that a balanced effort is needed to eliminate gender-based violence. This should not be the work of women, alone. NO HARM is a part of the solution.
